Mental Health Support Services

Front St. Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) provides case management and treatment programs. Staff works together with consumers on the development and implementation of their treatment plan with a primary focus on recovery and wellness.

Recovery-oriented structured activities and psycho-educational and behavioral interventions are provided in a setting in which the consumer's needs are addressed, skills training applied, and recovery experienced.

The multi-disciplinary team includes clinical social workers, MFTs and Mental Health Coordinators.

Services include case management, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, physical and nutritional counseling and more.

return to topCase Management

With goals of supporting independence and enhancing quality of life, Front St., case managers engage in a collaborative process with consumers and the other members of their treatment team. The case manger assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the options and services required to meet the client's health and human service needs.

Case managers are responsible for a variety of tasks, ranging from linking clients with appropriate providers and resources to intensive clinical or rehabilitative services and crisis interventions. Other core functions include outreach to engage clients in services, assessing individual needs, arranging requisite support services (such as money management, benefit programs and job training), monitoring medication and use of services, and advocating for client rights and entitlements.

Our case managers are advocates for consumers, ensuring they receive the appropriate monitoring and continuity of care that meets their particular circumstances. Our goal is to support independence and optimum wellness by working directly with consumers and the other members of their treatment team.

return to topWellness Program

In May 2005, a group of high-level Front St. Inc managers attended an intensive, three day training at the Center for Excellence in Psychiatry at New Jersey. The focus of the training was providing tools for implementing health and wellness practices throughout the agency’s programs. With a greater understanding of the need to account for the physical health in combination with the mental health of people with severe and persistent mental illness Front St. embraced and implemented a complete wellness approach in al its programs.

Front St. Wellness Program evolved over the years to include and address the various dimensions of one's life. Wellness is physical, emotional, social, occupational, intellectual, financial, environmental, and spiritual. We promote complete wellness and overall wellbeing by helping individuals enrich the quality of all aspects of their lives.

It is an evidence based treatment modality combining psycho-educational groups, nutrition and menu planning education, and physical activities grounded in the philosophy of person-centered recovery. Residents develop personal goals for maintaining wellness in an integrated fashion taking into accounts both their physical and psychological strengths and needs.

return to topQuarterly Wellness Events

Every three months one of the FSI communities hosts a Wellness Event. All of the residents from the six FSI facilities are invited to participate in the activities. By incorporating physical activity into our programs we have seen an increase in socialization, awareness of the value of self care and overall health.

Craft Fair

Our annual Craft Fair occurs every winter and gives our clients the opportunity to create holiday gifts that they are able to sell to the public.

Sports About

Each month all locations gather to participate in Sports About, an event focusing on physical activity and wellness in the community. Volleyball, baseball, and badminton have been a few of the favorites.

Every summer the FSI communities gather to host a barbeque for the individuals we serve and our partners in the community. Each year individual residents are awarded certificates for achieving personal goals such as maintaining a tobacco free lifestyle, improving in self care and exercise, increasing wellness through nutrition and health, and maintaining sobriety.
